The Professional Studies Program at Vanguard University is dedicated to assisting adult learners in reaching their goals by providing quality adult education, along with personal concern and genuine support.

Benefits of the Adult Degree Program:

Beyond community

  • Attend class one evening per week.
  • Improve skills and strengthen their position in the job market.
  • Graduate with a regionally accredited degree that is transferable to any graduate degree.
  • Meet in a seminar format, benefiting from the varied experiences and ideas of classmates.
  • Attend small classes with people from different backgrounds and different places creating a relational culture.
  • Receive individualized instruction and superior student service.
  • Complete their upper division coursework in less than two years (if all course requisites are satisfied).
  • Gain satisfaction from fulfilling an educational goal.

Beyond the classroom

We believe learning happens best in the context of relationship.  Our faculty spend countless hours—both inside and outside the classroom—to serve as professor-mentors, not just teachers.  Through close, coaching relationships, you’ll go beyond the classroom, getting not only the knowledge you need but also the wisdom to apply what you’re learning in practical ways.

Course Schedules

Upper division courses are generally scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. one night per week for the duration of the program. Occasional Saturday meetings may be required. General Education and elective courses are available Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings or online. Students may schedule to take only one class at a time, with each class running 5-8 weeks. Students enrolled in upper division courses receive the entire cohort calendar at the beginning of their program, allowing them to plan ahead for breaks and vacations.

Credit by Examination

The University offers several means by which you might earn credit. These include:

  • College Level Examination Program (CLEP)–a national set of exams on selected topics offered on a regular schedule.
  • Advanced Placement (AP) Examinations–a national set of exams to substitute for specified VUSC courses.
  • Defense Activity for Traditional Educational Support- (DANTES)–introductory college-level courses in more than 50 disciplines designed to help military personnel complete college credits.

Graduation Requirements

To graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree, you must:
