Doug Grove, PhD
Interim Director 
Doug Grove, PhD, provides educational and developmental leadership for Vanguard’s School for Professional Studies in areas of student learning, staff training, and program assessment. Concurrently, he is the also the Director for the Graduate Program in Education and Associate Professor of Education. In his role with SPS, he collaborates with the VU Administration, the Office of the Provost, and the Student Services Departments on long-term, institutional planning. Whether working in the office, attending a conference, chairing a committee, or teaching a class, Doug is always committed to offering each student an individualized academic program, marked by excellence and quality. Doug earned his BA in English from Concordia University, his MA in Education Technology from Pepperdine University, his MS in Educational Leadership from the Cal State Fullerton, and his PhD in Education from Claremont Graduate University. Kristi Starkey, MS, LMFT
Director of Recruitment
Kristi manages the recruiting and marketing departments for the School for Professional Studies. She oversees a staff of four who recruit and meet with prospective students for Business, Psychology, Religion, Early Childhood Education, and the RN to BSN programs. Kristi completed her Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Psychology and her Master’s of Science Degree in Clinical Psychology, both from Vanguard University. Justin Moschina
Director of Student Services and Veterans Resource Center
Justin oversees the student services coordinators, the Veterans Center, and works closely with student issues to ensure student retention. Justin is also the Chair of the Admissions Committee as well as the Student Advisory Board. Justin received his BA in Business – Organizational Management through Vanguard University’s SPS program and is currently enrolled in the Masters of Executive Leadership at USC. He brings to the team, seven years of management experience from several service-driven industries. Justin is driven to provide each and every student with a memorable SPS experience. Dominica Scibetta
Faculty Services and Veteran’s Coordinator
Dominica manages faculty payroll, oversees curriculum support, builds relationships with publishing companies, coordinates with various departments for all new hire documentation, and works with SPS Associate Chairs in coordinating faculty meetings. Dominica is also responsible for SPS New Student Orientation. Recently, Dominica became Vanguard’s V.A. Certifying Official. She processes all paperwork for students receiving V.A. Education Benefits. Dominica completed her BA in Communication Studies and Sociology from Vanguard University. She is passionate about diversity programming and student development in higher education. In her spare time, Dominica enjoys traveling abroad, volunteering, painting, and film. Mia Grajeda
Education Counselor
Mia tracks and follows up with prospective SPS students through the application process and is responsible for student recruitment at college fairs and corporate events. Mia also interviews and guides students through the steps necessary to starting the SPS program by performing comprehensive education counseling and providing transcript evaluations. Kenia Cueto, MAEd
Recruiter
Kenia Cueto is the Recruiter/Education Counselor for the Early Childhood Education
(ECE) Program. She is the initial contact person for new students who are interested in the ECE certificate program, AA and BA degrees. By executing comprehensive transcript evaluations, academic counseling, Kenia guides her students through the initial admissions process. She is also responsible for off campus recruitment at college fairs, consortiums, conferences, corporate and faith-based events. She earned her BA in Art from Cal State University Long Beach with an emphasis in Photography and Graphic Design. She also holds a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Argosy University. Laurie Davis, MS
Education Counselor 
Laurie attends recruiting events at the local community colleges, follows up with students interested in the SPS program, and assists students in completing their admissions items. Laurie helps guide students in understanding the program in more detail, scheduling meetings with the SPS counselors, and communicating with students on a regular basis. Laurie completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in 2009 and completed her Master’s Degree in Vanguard’s Clinical Psychology program and is working towards her 3,000 hours for her Marriage and Family Therapy License. Jeanette Oehrlein
Recruiter/Education Counselor for Early Childhood Education
Jeanette is the Recruiter/Education counselor for the Early Childhood Education (ECE) students at large and responsible for recruitment at educational events, conferences, and workshops. Jeanette comes to the School of Professional Studies with extensive experience in early childhood as a Director, Preschool teacher, California Professional Growth Advisor, and California Early Childhood Mentor Teacher. Annette Metten
Psychology/Online Coordinator
Annette serves as an admissions counselor and academic advisor for the SPS Psychology students. She also interviews and advises visiting students in SPS through the Student at Large program. Annette is also responsible for assisting students with their online classes though SPS. Annette graduated with high honors from Chapman University with her BA in psychology. Janae McCabe
Early Childhood Education (ECE)/Religion Student Services Coordinator
Janae assists the recruiting team as the new AA and BA degrees for Early Childhood Education are launched. She is also responsible for current SPS Religion students and acts as their counselor and academic advisor. She earned her BA in Communications from Biola University with a minor in Biblical Studies. Terri Quinones
Nursing Student Services Coordinator 
Terri brings her passion to come along side and guide those who’ve made a decision to commit themselves to start and finish their educational degree. Terri intimately knows the challenge of working, balancing home life and finishing her degree, as she is a graduate of Vanguard’s School of Professional Studies. She finished her Business degree with an emphasis in Organizational Management in 2006. She understands the value of a degree as she has an extensive career history in both business and academic administration. Paris Clark
Nursing Student Services Coordinator
Paris joined Vanguard University in May of 2012 and comes to Vanguard with paralegal experience. She is not new to Vanguard, however; she earned her BA in Business from Southern California College, the prior name of our school. Paris is excited to be giving back to her alma mater by assisting the nursing students in her role as Student Services Coordinator. She is passionate about lifelong learning, both personally and professionally. Robin Loperfido
Data and Support Supervisor
Robin supervises the SPS administrative and clerical staff along with the student workers to keep our processes flowing smoothly. She uses her expertise in MS Office, especially Excel, to track the SPS budget, student demographics, and student applications. Previously Robin provided support to Vanguard’s Counseling Center, Career Development Center, and Disability Services and may be able to offer you information about those services. Nancy Harris
Administrative Assistant
Nancy greets you at the front desk as you enter the SPS office or call us on the phone. She provides administrative support to our Director, our student services team, and our recruiting team. Her responsibilities include coordinating student events, such as New Student Orientation and the Graduation Celebration. Christie Wimberly
Data Services Coordinator
Christie is responsible for managing and organizing the data pertinent to the School for Professional Studies. Christie also enters new student applications, and manages and creates department reports and calendars. Prior to working at Vanguard, Christie worked at Quiksilver in the sales department providing support for accounts such as Nordstrom, Macy’s, Bloomingdales, PacSun and Tilly’s. Christie was also a preschool teacher and her educational background consists of early childhood education (ECE).
